On 22 August 2014 the NSW government published the Registered Clubs Amendment (Limitation of Number of Members) Regulation 2014.

Clubs now have an additional 6 months until 1 January 2017 to reduce their board to a maximum of 9 directors.

This change is a reminder to review your club’s constitution to ensure it is up to date and compliant with the current provisions of the Registered Clubs Act, Liquor Act, Corporations Act and all other relevant legislation.

A club’s constitution is the contract between the club, its board and the members. Having an easier to read, up to date club constitution is an essential tool for club directors and management. 

Furthermore, having an out of date constitution can expose a club to risks that it is not complying with the current law.
